What is it with people these days?
There was an article in the Toronto Star yesterday about a boy and his dog. Apparently the two dogs had issues and now the owners of the truly offending dog are upset and expect the boy to pay their vet bill.
These are animals that have very natural behaviours. As a society, we have decided to domesticate naturally territorial and predatory animals.
That doesn’t come without some risk.
The boy was not being careless. His dog was on a leash. The boy’s dog was defending his master and bit the other dog on the ear. They’re lucky that’s all the boy’s dog did. Many larger dogs would have picked up the smaller dog, given it a shake and broken it’s neck.
The article isn’t really clear enough but it appears the other owner was negligent in not having control over his/her dog and it ended up in their own dog coming to harm. Now they expect the boy to pay. That’s just wrong!
The shame is that this particular incident is just a symptom of what is becoming of our society. When will people take responsibility for their own actions? It’s no wonder the legal system is so overloaded. Check out family court some day. On second thought, don’t. It will just make you sick.
Sorry, that was a rant. Must be a full moon!
Make it a great day,
P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful I have a dog that would protect my family with its life. I’m thankful for my fish, they can’t bite anyone. I’m thankful for peanut butter cookies!
What are you thankful for today?
