In “Awaken The Giant Within” by Anthony Robbins, he uses a great example.
Imagine you are driving a race car and you go into a skid. All you can think about is hitting the wall and guess what happens? Right, you will hit the wall because that’s all you can think about. He had an instructor in the car with him that forced him to look away from the wall and surprise, Anthony got control and avoided hitting the wall.
It’s like when you drive down the road at night and see headlights coming toward you. Like a mosquito, you are drawn to the light until you force yourself to look away. I was taught in driver’s ed class to look down to the right at the edge of the road to avoid being drawn to the light. It works!
Now think about what might happen if you are facing a challenging meeting or event. You can either focus on all of the possible negative outcomes or you can see yourself taking control of the situation and coming out on top.
There is no 100% guarantee but I would suggest a positive outcome is far more likely if you can just stay focused on where you want to go instead of being distracted by the light.
You can do it if you just decide!
See you at the top,
Barry
P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful my wife was successful in getting her passport replaced in time to get across the border for a major business event. She stayed focused and achieved the impossible! I’m thankful my son is achieving great successes on a daily basis. I’m thankful that God granted me another wonderful day in this life.
What are you thankful for today?
