It’s funny, the reception people get when they tell friends they have become involved in a new business.
Starting a franchise or new business today is far more than most people can afford and yet there are a great many entrepreneurs amongst us. The true entrepreneur is open minded or there is no way they would have the nerve to get started nor is it likely they would succeed.
Most of these people want nothing more than a better life for themselves and the people close to them. The shame is that when they approach their friends, they are often given such negative feedback that some are scared away from their goals. They turn back because of someone else’s ingorance or fears and don’t stick to their own values and objectives.
When a friend approaches you to hear about their business they are excited because they see opportunity instead of negativism. These entrepreneurs want their friends to stay with them for the ride and be with them for the successes. They want YOU to be able to enjoy life with them, not get left behind. Whether you are interested in their business or not, don’t be a dream stealer. Don’t let your own fears stop your friends from sharing their excitement and successes with you. They have chosen you to share in a very important part of their lives.
Next time a friend approaches you with an idea or business opportunity, don’t just be polite. LISTEN! If it’s not for you, that’s OK and the friend should be able to accept you saying so provided you are respectful of them and their ideas. Just because you aren’t into something, that doesn’t make it stupid or bad.
OK, that was a rant!
Have a great day and I hope you realize your dreams some day,
Barry
P.S.
What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful the street lights worked in my favour and I made my bus! I’m thankful that I’m here to see the sun shine today. I’m thankful for all of the wonderful opportunities that God shows us every day!
