On June 26, 1943 a wonderful woman was born. My Mom. Mom would have been 68 today.
As you can see in the pictures above, I remember my mother always having a smile. I know that she was in a lot pain for many years because of the diabetes and heart disease. It’s interesting, she had heart disease and yet she had a bigger heart than anyone I have ever known. No matter what she was experiencing herself, she was always there to provide love and support to all those around her. I can only hope that I have half the heart my mother had.
We lost Mom last year (July 28, 2010) and it has left a big hole in our hearts. You don’t realize how big a place someone has in your heart until you lose them. Why is that?
I lost my son three months after my mother. (He’s the one on the front, left in the picture above.) I believe it’s my mother’s strength that is helping me get through. It’s interesting, the picture above is a great testament to a wonderful grandmother and yet is bitter sweet. It brings tears, some happy and some sad. When my son died, I wanted my mother and yet, I was glad that she could help my son now when I can’t.
Mom is with all those who have gone before her and I’m sure God has taken away all of her pain and reunited her with all of the people who brought her great joy. She deserves paradise after all that she gave.
Mom, I miss you and I love you.
Happy Birthday,
Barry
P.S.
What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful that God gave me such a wonderful role model. I’m thankful my Mom was MY Mom! I’m thankful that my son has such an angel to look after him now.
What are you thankful for today?
