Denise brought this book home from a meeting and I decided I needed something to read on the bus. Interestingly enough it’s about a couple who have lost a young son.
I’m about half way through and I can already say I recommend this book as a good read to anyone who has experienced a traumatic loss in their lives and ended up losing their direction in the process.
I can tell you that there are days where you are so disoriented because so much has happened and you have had no time to adjust. Sometimes it seems unreal that the loved one is gone. I still wait for my son to come up from his room some days.
How often do spouses hurt so much that they turn on each other rather than being understanding and supportive. I thank God that I am married to Denise. She has her days for sure but NEVER does she turn that on me.
We both believe that things happen for a reason and we will figure this one out. I can already say that the family has come closer together and I’m glad Brett got to see that.
The next time you are feeling a loss and becoming frustrated, take a breath and think about what you are feeling. By all means, take the time to feel it and then move past it. There are still a great many people around you that need you.
I’ll let you know how the book turns out!

P.S.
What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful that I have the best wife in the world! I’m thankful that my kids have the strength to move on with their lives. I’m thankful that God is always there when I need Him.
