We should encourage it in our children!
When I was younger, I took very few risks. I think it’s related to being the eldest and wanting to live up to expectations. That’s where we go wrong.
As parents, why do we have expectations? We expect our children to “do the right thing”. We expect our children to “behave themselves”. We expect our children to study and be successful.
Why can’t we accept that the success is in their willingness to take risks? Why can’t we accept that their success is in the fact that they tried? In the end, we teach our children to do the “safe thing”. In the end, we actually contribute to teaching our children self limiting behaviour.
In “Secrets of The Millionaire Mind”, T. Harv Eker talks about our mental blueprint. He’s right. As parents, we help to create our children’s mental blueprint. What are you going to do for your child?
I would highly recommend reading in general but specifically, Secrets of The Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker and Awaken The Giant Within by Anthony Robbins.
Changing your own blueprint may be the best thing you can do for your kids!

P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful that people like Anthony Robbins and T. Harv Eker are sharing The Secret. I’m thankful that my parents taught me to challenge convention. I’m thankful to have such a supporting wife.
What are you thankful for today?
