I was invited to attend a gathering of friends from high school. That means some people I haven’t likely seen in over 30 years.
For a brief moment, I started the “what if” game in my head. That lasted all of two seconds when I thought about the analogy of weaving a fabric compared to living a life. Imagine you are knitting an amazing sweater and you dropped a stitch.
You have two options, keep going forward and create a new pattern or you can try to unravel all of the work you have done and start over. I don’t knit myself but I believe it’s much easier to keep going forward and figure out how to make your experience a positive. It will change your life for sure but the experience can turn out to be more amazing than you could have ever imagined.
Do you remember the country song “Unanswered Prayer”? I’m living that song. There was a girl that I was totally infatuated with in high school. Because that prayer wasn’t answered exactly as I expected, my life has been amazing. I married the girl that should have been in my dreams!
So, when life throws you a curve (drops a stitch), what do you do? Is it really worth unravelling everything you have done because of a misstep?
Just a thought…..
Barry
P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful we could help a friend this weekend. I’m thankful for the gathering around a fire last night. I’m thankful for the new friends we met at a Connexus Small Group meeting Friday.
What are you thankful for today?
