Do you really?
I have been involved in and worked with many businesses over the years. As the leader, we strive to find people like ourselves. Typically type A’s. Willful, controlling, stubborn, and so on…. Then we complain when they won’t follow direction to the letter! What if we took the time to figure how to talk to ourselves? How would we like to be “told” to do something? Not usually. In order for someone to be successful in getting my buy in, they need to spend some time selling. The trick is understand that to be successful at selling, you need to help the client buy. Stop selling, help them buy! So, the next time you find someone on your team to be a challenge, take a look in the mirror. Remember that is who you are selling to and help them to buy what you are offering. Good luck with that. Really, I know you can do it if you try. You just have to really want to help them buy instead of trying to shove your idea down their throat. Remember that with people like this, they need to have a win in order to buy in. It may be as simple as their idea to use a different paper than you advise. That is what makes it their idea. Once they own the idea, you won’t be able to stop them. Make it a great day! P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful that my father is still alive and I will see him tonight. I’m thankful for the dinner my daughter is making me tonight! I’m thankful for the wonderful people I work with. What are you thankful for today? |
I want all A’s!
