Funny how you read something and what’s old seems new.
As I read Anthony Robbins’ Awaken The Giant Within, he talks about tying physical or emotional feelings to whatever you are trying to change.
If it’s something you want to stop doing, make it hurt. Fast forward 5 years and see how whatever you are or are NOT doing right now will make you feel later. Will it hurt if you don’t stop doing that?
Alternatively, if it’s something you want to start doing, fast forward 5 years from now and feel what it would feel like. So, if you don’t start doing that action now, you won’t be able to feel that joy 5 years from now. Is that what you want?
The trick is to really feel the joy or pain.
As an example, last year I had a diabetic incident very shortly after my mother passed away. She died early in life because diabetes and other factors had caused massive problems with her heart. I believe that if she had known earlier and made substantial changes, she may have lived longer.
Because of her, I looked at my own situation and immediately made changes. Within three months I had lost 30 pounds, substantially changed my eating habits, started walking every day and don’t need medication to control my sugar.
Those changes started in an instant. I made a decision.
Because of my own experience, I believe that you actually can “just decide”. It’s really no miracle. Just decide.
What will your decision be?
Barry
P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful for my health. I’m thankful for the opportunity to change. I’m thankful for the strength God gives me to make difficult decisions.
What are you thankful for today?
