We so often hear about people who are so focused on their weaknesses and spend countless hours working to overcome them.
What if we took the opposite approach? What if we spent the time improving on our strengths and worked with and/or hired people to complement us in the areas that we are not as strong in? Notice I didn’t say weakness.
As T. Harv Eker says, the human mind is designed to protect us and will tell us whatever it needs to in order to prevent us from taking risk. Listen to it and then make a decision to take the risk or not. Remember, your mind will tell you whatever it takes to stop you. Are you going to let it?
Ok, back to the strengths thing.
I was talking to a group at work yesterday and discovered we all had similarities. We are all recognized as people who handle crisis well. We are all people who are known to have an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. We are all people who are known to care about what we do and how we do it. We are Aries!
Interestingly, we all identified that we get bored easily and have found jobs that appeal to us for their very nature. All of us are in different positions but have all chosen positions that challenge us. We identified that we can’t stay focused too long on one task without taking a break. Otherwise, we “over think” things and start spinning our wheels. By having multiple tasks, we actually achieve more. Some might say I have ADD. I say that’s a great strength, you just have to learn how to put it to work!
Find your strengths and embrace them. Don’t let others convince you that they are weaknesses just because they don’t understand it or can’t keep up. Be responsible for managing those strengths and finding others to fill the gaps where you are not as strong. Take control of your life and be responsible for the outcome.
Make it a great day!
Barry
P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful for who I am. I’m thankful for the ability to become who I want to be. I’m thankful God gave us the ability to make our own decisions.
What are you thankful for today?
