This time every year, we are focused on income tax.  Whether you are in Canada or the US, it is the season.

Man-CryingThe thing to appreciate is that if you have to pay taxes, that’s a good thing.  That means you made enough money for taxes to be a challenge.  The trick is to do the right things and keep the right records to make sure you only pay your fair share.

Both of these countries have a confusing maze of tax laws.  It’s best that you have tax professionals on your side to help you navigate that maze.  You need the advice of lawyers, accountants and most certainly your personal financial adviser.

If you don’t have a business, you might want to consider starting one.  Find something that you think has value and share it.  You don’t have to break the bank, you might have fun and you might actually learn and save taxes all at the same time!

Whatever your situation is this tax season, make sure you get the help of your professional adviser team.  You’ll sleep better and you won’t be as likely to have the tax man in your dreams or your pocket!
