| There was an interesting article in Toronto’s 24HR newspaper today.
Cross-border auto shopping. This raises an important point at this time of year as we travel to the US for what appears to be savings.When I was in the computer industry, I used to have to explain to people that the computer they bought in the US has no warranty status in Canada and also that when they were purchasing for a student going over seas, they needed to purchase warranty for that country. Alternatively, they could make their purchase when they landed. Caveat emptor! (Buyer beware!) By purchasing in your home country you not only contribute to your local economy, you actually get better value in the end. While I’m on the subject of Christmas shopping, keep in mind that the retailers are under the most pressure they will face all year. When I worked in retail food, people often used to say “it must be a lot of fun this time of year”. No!!!! It’s not!!!! People are all so rushed and stressed that they are typically at their worst when they are Christmas shopping. Next time you are at the check out and frustrated with the time to get through, think twice before you take it out on the poor clerk. If you see all the desks open and the staff are all making their best effort, please remind yourself that ‘Tis The Season. Give the clerk a smile and a pat on the back on the effort they just made for you. You will make their day and actually feel much better yourself. Make it a great day! Barry P.S.
