Why do we do that?

In the interest of achieving goals, we often rush through tasks and even life.

We want a bigger house so we buy over our heads and end up house poor. We want a fancier car and do the same again. All of a sudden we realize we can’t or don’t want to pay the price. Now we don’t know how to get out of the situation.

Wouldn’t it be better to work out a realistic plan and work toward those goals? The relief that comes from just knowing where you are going and when you can expect to get there is well worth the exercise.

We have friends in business who we often hear say that they “will be…” whatever the coveted title of the month is but you know that the goal is not realistic. Set realistic goals so that you can achieve great things! Be true to yourself and don’t get caught up in the hype.

The bigger goals are achieveable but you need to accomplish some of the smaller goals to get there. Think of it like driving a car. You need to be looking ahead to see where you are going but you also need to make sure you are not looking so far ahead that you crash the car or end killing someone because you didn’t see them step off the curb just ahead of you.

Slow down a bit, set your goals and stick to your plan.

All plans need periodic adjustment but don’t over do it. For example, you should review your financial plan once a year. If you adjust every month, you’ll end up broke or missing opportunities. Stay focussed!

Stop trying to rush everything, that’s how things get broken. Spend time with your kids, they are gone all too soon. Same with your parents. God knows, this sandwich generation is really being squeezed and, just like a Cheeze Whiz sandwich, things are squirting all over the place.

Stop squeezing and take the time to enjoy the adventure because that’s what life is if you let it be.

Have a great day!

What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful my bus made it safely to work. I’m thankful I didn’t get soaked when I went for my afternoon walk! I’m thankful for a wonderful wife I’m going home to.

What are you thankful for today?
