My youngest daughter arrives from out west for the Christmas holidays today. The oldest daughter and youngest son are making the commitment to being home for Christmas dinner.Hopefully the ones that are home Christmas Eve will come to mass with us and hang around for a bit of our open house.
We have open house every year on Christmas Eve to share with our friends. When we moved to Barrie, neither of us had family there. Now our children call Barrie home. Sometimes it’s difficult but home really is where you make it. Although we hope our children end up not too far away, I suspect we will lose our youngest daughter to the west. I think our son will end up in another country. Of all places, it looks like our eldest daughter is making her life in Hamilton. In the end, it looks like Barrie was a really good choice. Close enough to the Toronto airport for the kids to come home and eventually we can visit wherever they are! I’m rambling today. I guess my point is that life is an amazing journey that you can choose to enjoy or view as a challenge. The key word is “choose”. We often can’t control events that happen to us but we certainly can choose how we react. For all of our challenges over the years, God has given us many wonderful experiences and we have had a great journey so far. I choose to enjoy the experience of a wonderful journey rather than begrudge the challenges that I have faced over the years. What will you choose? Make it a great day! P.S. What am I thankful for today? I’m thankful for the opportunity for the opportunity to interview for a new position today. I’m thankful for the support of all my co-workers in preparing for this challenge. I’m thankful my children have chosen to be home for Christmas! What are you thankful for today? |
